Meosa interrupted Arik. “Let’s go, disciple. It is important that they have a moment alone, they are, after all, father and daughter. Take no offense by it.”

Arik set his things down, an indication that he would return. He tried his best to hold his head up as he returned to the beach, but he couldn’t shake the fact that it felt wrong to leave. Arik wanted to be there.

It was halfway through Arik’s walk to the next lighthouse that Meosa spoke. “You’re overreacting, disciple. Take a breath, and try not to make this all about you.”
